Black walls with book cases and rugs. Very oppulent and yet cosy. The ceiling has a large oval of terracotta surrounded by a delicate vine motif. That was painted by Eric. When there had been water damaged (it was a flat roof above) the decorative scheme was damaged. Stella had the Courtauld take off the old paint and paper with razor blades and after the builders were finished it was restored. This must have all gone I suppose. Anybody know?

There is pasta for lunch, with lots of olives and bread with sesame seeds on. Wine too white home made wine. From Grapes bought at Spitlefields Market and put in a huge barrel in the basement. Crushed by Stella's own feet. How did she get in there? She was still making it when I lived there in the late 70's. She went in a black cab. No not strange at all. More wine? Please come into the Garden, through here.
